In Marakesch dünnt sich unser Team leider aus, da Nina den Heimweg ins kalte Deutschland antreten muss. Das restliche Team geniesst noch einen vollen Tag das Flair dieser außergewöhnlichen Stadt, bevor wir weiter in Richtung Atlantik fahren. Unser Ziel heißt Essaouria, die schönste Stadt an der Küste Marokkos. Die Fahrt nach Essaouria ist ziemlich unspektakulär und führt bolzengerade Richtung Westen. Da auch der Hohe Atlas in Dunst gehüllt ist, kommen wir auf der Strecke ohne die üblichen Foto-Stopps zügig voran.

Essaouria mit seinen 80 000Einwohnern besitzt ein angenehmes Flair und eine schöne Altstadt direkt am Meer. Der Tourismus hat hier im großen Stil Einzug gehalten, dementsprechend gut ist die Infrastruktur. Das milde Meeresklima läßt es zu, daß wir uns abends nicht gleich nach Sonnenuntergang vor lauter Kälte in die Dachzelte verdrücken, sondern bei einem Schluck Bier in Reise-Erinnerungen schwelgen können. Für alle Wind- und Kitesurfer sei erwähnt, daß Essaouira die besten Surfreviere in ganz Marokko bereithält.

Marakesh-Essaouira

In Marakesh, unfortunately, our team thins out: Nina has to return to the cold Germany. The remaining team enjoys one further day in this exceptional city before we head for the Atlantic Ocean. Our destination is Essaouria, the most beautiful moroccian city at the Atlantic coast. The trip to Essaouria is not very attractive since we have to drive all the time on a straight road towards the West. Since the High Atlas is wrapped in clouds, there is no reason for our usual photo stops.

Essaouria with its 80,000 inhabitants has a pleasant flair and a nice Old Town next to the sea. Nowadays, there is lot's of tourism; hence, the infrastructure is very good. The mild sea climate makes it possible that we do not have go directly into our tents just after the sundown; we can have a beer and reminisce about our trip. For all wind and kite surfer, Essaouri is one of the best places to surf in Morocco.
