Ein Autotag bringt uns von Chefchaouen nach Fes und dort zum schönen Zeltplatz Diamant Vert, den wir trotz mofafahrenden Abfangjägern (des konkurrierenden Zeltplatzes) sicher erreichen. Fes, eine der vier Königsstädte in Marokko ist eine Stadt der Superlative; größte Altstadt des afrikanischen Kontinents (die Strasse entlang der Stadtmauer hat eine Länge von 16km), Unesco-Weltkulturerbe seit den 70iger-Jahren, zweitälteste Universität der Welt (nach Kairo) undundund. Mehr als 700 000 Menschen wohnen in der riesigen Medina (Altstadt), die leider an vielen Stellen mehr als baufällig ist. Mit der Neustadt und den umliegenden Vororten beträgt die Einwohnerzahl deutlich über 1 Million.
Ein Bummel durch die engen Gassen ist ohne die Hilfe eines ortskundigen Führers nahezu unmöglich. Wir haben mit Elouafi Hamaf einen deutschsprachigen Führer, der uns in einer spannenenden Tour, die verschiedenen Handwerkerviertel und Souks zeigt. An dieser Stelle vielen Dank an Elouafi. Kingcity Fes
A whole day in the cars takes us from Chefchaouen to Fes. We stay at the nice camp ground Diamant Vert, where we arrive safely despite the somewhat aggresive moped drivers (sent from the competing camp ground).
Fes, one of the four kingcities in Morrocco, is a city with lot's of highlights: the largest ancient town center of the African continent (the road around the old city wall is 16km long); since the 70s, UNESCO cultural world heritage; second oldest university in the world (after Kairo), etc etc... More than 700.000 people live in the enormous medina, parts of which are, unfortunately, in a bad shape. Together with the new part of the town and all the suburbs, the total number of inhabitants is much more than one million.
It's nearly impossible not to get lost in the narrow lanes without the help of a local guide. Our's is Elouafi Hamaf who speaks German and gives us an exciting tour showing us all the different quarters of the craftsmen and the souks. From here, Thank you very much, Elouafi!
