Und noch weiter südlich führt uns die Fahrt. Am 3.Advent starten wir mit Christiane und vielen Geschenken aus der Heimat (vielen Dank an all die edlen Spender) im Gepäck in Richtung Sine Saloum Delta, das kurz vor der Grenze zu Gambia liegt. Die Landschaft wird nach dem Verlassen von Dakar und der Halbinsel Cap Vert immer attraktiver und mehr und mehr Baobab- und Kapokbäume ragen aus der Savanne. Ein liebliches Dorf folgt auf das andere und die Kinder sind ob der Tubabs (=Weisse) ganz aus dem "Hüttchen". Die Strassenqualität kann leider nicht ganz mithalten und so spielt sich mehr Verkehr neben als auf der schlaglochdurchlöcherten Strasse ab.

In Missirah machen wir zwei Nächte Station bevor wir uns nach Gambia weiterbewegen. Dort empfängt uns ein Kommitee von FaF Gambia an der Grenze und bereitet uns einen herzlichen Empfang. Fun und Fairplay (FaF) Gambia ist neben FaF Sierra Leone ein weiterer Ableger des Freizeitvereins aus Maulbronn (siehe auch Fun and Fairplay)

Heading southwards

We are going even further South. On the 3rd Advent, we start today's trip together with Christiane and many presents from at home (thanks a lot to all givers!) towards the Sine Saloum delta very close to the Gambian border. The landscape behind Dakar and the peninsula Cap Vert becomes more and more attractive and we can see lot's of Baobab and Kapoktrees which stick out of the savannah. One lovely village after the other, where the all the kids are so excited because of the Tubabs (=the whites). Unfortunately, the road quality is much less attractive; therefore, we drive more beside than on this "potholly" road.

We stop for two nights in Missirah before we continue the trip to Gambia. There, at the border, a welcome commitee of Fun and Fairplay Gambia is waiting for and gives us a hearty reception. Fun and Fairplay (FaF) Gambia is, besides FaF Sierra Leone, a second "spin-off" of the recreational sports club FaF Maulbronn (see also Fun and Fairplay).
